Question Why did my PSU turn off after running it for an hour and the PSU started stinking and my PC wouldn't turn on

I added a GeForce rtx 3060 to my PC and ran it for about an hour after that my PC turned off and when I turned it on its started for a split second and turned off my PSU was stinking for some reason as well

You bought over rated junk for a power supply 17A on the 12 volt rail = 204 watts.

I took stuff out my PC like the gpu, ram and checked for burns or anything melted my motherboard looks fine my ram too and my gpu just gotta get a new psu and test it

Some of those are not even good and you need nothing close to 1K watts.

EVGA has the power supplies made for them some good some not good.

I would recommend a Corsair RMx or at least RM series 550 to 650 watts is fine for what you have a bit of overkill.

For what he has sure, but maybe do some over provisioning and get a 750 watt for when you get a more powerfull gpu.

Wow they still sell them....When I was younger back in the days of socket 939, I actually fried IDE ports on a motherboard with a cheap power supply about like this one.

Glad your stuff still works, you are fortunate your power supply didn't take your motherboard or your new card with it.
