Why do I get a slow copy speed of 15-37 MB/s between 2 of THESE Toshiba Enterprise SATA III drives connected to Sata III MSI Z77MA-G45 Z77 motherboard ports on Windows 7 64-bit? I posted this question on the product's page and somebody replied saying then got 160 MB/s transfer speed. I'm copying a 10 GB video but I get the same slow speed for smaller videos. Doesn't matter if I'm moving or copying a file, I get the same speed. The drives are nearly empty, also tried on empty drives.
Could it just be that it's an older motherboard? Still seems strange that it says it supports SATA III yet it gives the same or slower speed than SATA II. Yes I've made sure I connected the drives to the SATA III ports and not the SATA II ports. The drives are used (renewed) but have barely any powered on hours.
Also why when I'm copying from an SSD to the Toshiba drive does the transfer speed start at 150 MB/s and stay at that until 25% of the transfer is done but then the transfer speed lowers to the same 37 MB/s speed as if I was copying between 2 of the Toshiba mechanical drives?
I tried copying the same file from an internal drive taken from a USB WD My Book 8 TB drive to the Toshiba drive and the speed varied between 150-174 MB/s. Then a few minutes later I renamed the file and tried doing the same thing again but this time at 64% of the way through the copy the speed lowered to 32 MB/s!
I don't get the slow speed when copying files between other drives such as the WD My Book 8TB. I get up to 150 MB/s transfer speed with those and that's on SATA II ports.
I've tried using the native Windows copier, Tera Copy and Fast Copy. All gives the same speed. AHCI is enabled in the motherboard bios and SATA ports are set to auto speed so should use SATA III.
