Question why do i get low cpu clock speeds like gaming

while having apps like discord and teams open the CPU clock speed is around 2 to almost 4 ghz but the moment I open a game(ex. valorant ) the clock speed does below 1ghz around 0.7 ghz idk why this is happening.
Im using a laptop with i5 1135G7@2.4ghz base clock being 1.38ghz and max clock speed being 4.2ghz

The CPU is limited by it's power budget of 12-28W, which includes the integrated graphics.
So if your laptop has no dedicated graphics chip besides that, the iGPU has to do the work. Meaning that power budget has to give more to the graphics than on the desktop and has less left for the CPU part. And less power means less clock speed.

i do have a dedicated gpu nvidia mx330 2gb ddr5

it doesnt drop at any temp its all good and runs well with normal apps but the second a game launches it goes to 0.7 ghz

yes im on high performance power plan and the pc is plugged in while gaming
