Why do these processors have such a huge price gap?

I'm really curious why these two have such a big price gap when it seems that the cheaper one would be a WAY better bang for your buck. Maybe I'm overlooking something. Can someone help me out?

Because. Reasons. That's why.

The cheaper one is better either way, so I don't see what you're complaining about.

It's usually priced like that because one is new and in production and the other is old and out of production.

The 4930k has always been around that price, and Intel usually doesn't bother slashing the prices on their older CPUs, as it may discourage people from buying newer chips if they can get the slightly older one for a lower price, plus they can gouge people on older platforms that are looking for upgrades without switching out the motherboard.
