why does my 2nd monitor turn on first???

every time i turn my pc on the second monitor turns on first but it is not my main monitor. how do i fix this??

If you are indicating that the video is displayed on the second monitor first and within a second or so, then the second monitor display is active, sounds like one of two possibilities.
1. The monitors are not identical and one take longer than the other, or
2. The video card powers up one output for the monitors before the other. (fix=change where the monitors are plugged in to the vid card and software defined which is the main monitor)

hmm well yeah the monitors are two totally different kinds. my primary is in my gpu through hdmi and my 2nd one is through dvi with a vga to dvi adapter

Well that's about all you can do, any chance you can swap the monitors primary in to the dvi port, and secondary into the hdmi port. Guessing your secondary doesn't have an hdmi.

Also you might be able to make a change in the GPU software, then tell windows your secondary is your primary-just another off the wall thought.
