why does my adapter say 270mbps but speedtest says 8mbps?

Hi guys and girls, i been reading tons of threads and i just can't find anyone talking specificly about this issue i am having🙁 No matter what i do or change or uninstall or troubleshoot i just can't get more then or even half of what it says when i open my wireless adapter window...If someone has a idea or a thought that i can try, or even tell me what i don't want to hear, i am all ears) Thank you so much...

Speed test tests your connection not the theoretical max your adapter can.

Your wireless adapter reports the maximum speed it can achieve between your computer and your wireless router, not between your computer and your ISP.

That makes a lot more sense to me..I been doing everything i could think of to make this better..haha Thank you guys very much...I still would like to know why i can't get that speed, but i am sure there is a ton of variables, i really have gone through most of the reasons it could be, and all i ever can achieve is from 8mbps to 25 to 30mbps, but it only hangs around for 10 20 mins or so, then right back down to 5 6 8 mbps again🙁

Going to speedtest.net, you can only get whatever speed you pay your ISP for. Sometimes a teeny bit more, but if you pay them for a 30Mbps connection, your router being capable of 300Mbps will not change that.

That 300 mbps is a theoretical between you and the router, not you and the outside world.
