I have an MSI GTX 970 4GB and the first week I built my PC, the Idle temperatures were 45-50 degrees now the idle temperatures without any games active, are 57-60 degrees. Why the sudden change?
Maybe a drivers update, check the power preference in Nvidia control panel. There is a big difference in temp between prefer maximum power and adaptive. Adaptive yields much lower idle temps.

Ohh yeah xD. I set it to best performance to see if it would stop screen tearing. lol. I turned it off now and my idle temperatures are from 46-50 degrees. But still, is that a good idle temperature? I feel like it isn't.
Well considering that most 970 models, like my Strix, don't even start the fans unless the temp hits 66c I say that 50c idle is fine. Mine Idles around 40-45, I have only 2 intake fans in the case though, so not very much air reaches it. 46-50c is perfectly normal for a 970 in a medium sized case.

The thing is I have a full tower case but the cables are un managed and they are thick.
