Why does my laptop freeze after I'm away from it?

I've had this Asus X501A laptop for over 2 years and 8 months. For the past couple of months, every time I come back from being away from the laptop, it freezes. I have to turn the computer off by the on button because the freezing is so bad.

My laptop only freezes when I come back from being away from it. My laptop runs on Windows 8 and always has done.

Why does it do this?

You'll need to look at the event viewer for that.

Also, by "away from the laptop" you mean the laptop goes to sleep/ has a screensaver or it just does it after inactivity without going to sleep/screen off?

If you added a screensaver, I'll bet you uninstalling it will fix it.
