Why doesnt it recognize my hard drive?

I am trying to install windows 8 and my hard drive to install it on isnt showing up. All that appears is i can download windows 8 to is a 3.9gb unallocated space thing. Obviously that is to small to download it on. I need to it to recognize my 1tb hard drive. I correctly installed the hard drive into my computer and I am 100% sure of it.I have restarted my computer several times and went through every option. What could possibly be the problem? Please HELP!

what do you mean by correctly formatted? I installed the drive correctly to the motherboard and I have not tested it on any other computers although i do have the same hard drive on one of my other computers that works perfect

My bad 2. was a dumb question if it wasn't formatted you wouldn't be able to use it. That same hard drive on the other computer isn't the one you are installing the new OS on is it?

my other computer isnt available right now =( is there any other way to check?

I don't know any other way to check to see without using another computer. Sorry man I wish I could help more
