When I use Mai afterburner it says I'm using 10-14% CPU total and only 4 cores seems to be used to play mc the only 4 that seem to do anything are around 30% and occasionally one core may get to 70% and the other 3 cores wile at 70% is using maybe 9% and the other 8 cores are using 0-3%

Even using optafine multi core it doesn't help much then all the cores are going from 0-20% so if I go beyond 22 render distance it will lag out it should handle 32 distance no problem being its only at 14% or lower

Btw I have a 5930k so that's 6/12 cores @ 3.5ghz stalk

Solution
i know minecraft "inside & out" i make mods and stuff
now one thing to try is see if it is a issue with the cpu by turning on/installing shaders and a hevey resource pack and see if adding a load on the gpu helps a 2nd option is install optifine to see if the fps changes by messing with cpu performance settings
a 3rd option is to reinstall minecraft completely

let me know if any thing works and i have a few more ideas if none of these work
I'm gonna take a stab since I don't know much about minecraft. But The game may not be programmed to make use of all the cores. But there are games that are gpu or cpu intensive and it could be that simple. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck

Yea minecraft can only use 4 cores but even then the cores don't seem to be used very much using 20% average installed a mod that fixes this and uses all 12 cores but it seams to just spread out the same usage and all 12 run at 0-9 range but if you are using a quad core shouldn't it use more of the usage there then 20% when it needs more to properly run is there a mod to set it to use more if it needs

Do you have a GPU? I don't play Minecraft either but if you are running on the 5930k's integrated graphics they might not be strong enough. The CPU processing power is many times more than what is needed for that game but if you don't have a GPU to go with it that would explain the poor gaming performance.
