Question Why doesn't the M.2 drive show up in File Explorer?

I transferred an M.2 drive from one computer to another.
When I look at the BIOS, it detects it and puts it on the boot list even (because it was the C drive on the other computer) with a SATA drive I have the OS on.
But it doesn't show up in Windows explorer.

I used to have a BDR drive connected to the SATA port it shared, but disconnected it and it still doesn't show.

Does it appear in Disk Management?
Please show us the screencap of this.

What specific drive?
What specific motherboard?


And I hope you weren't wanting to boot from this transplanted OS drive.

I just wanted to access the files in it. The booting is done on a preinstalled SATA drive. In the past I've transplanted drives to computers and it just shows up with a different letter and I can read the data in it, whether or not it was bootable. But this is the first time I did it with M.2 and was wondering if I'm missing something.

Well...that HP drive should work in either M.2 ports.

It looks like Disk 2 has no letter.

So, the big partition in the middle.
Right click, and give it a drive letter.

Bringing in a new drive does not always automatically give it a drive letter.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Not SATA vs anything else.
Just a different drive.
