why intel extreme edition CPUs are more expensive.....?

why intel core i7 49060X and core i7 4930K has huge price diffrence...? both have unlocked multipliers the only extra thing in extreme edition is 3 mb cache and 100 MHz clock......i know some peoples say extreme edition is wastage of money....but many High end gaming computer manufacturers used Intel extreme edition processor.....so please tell me the difference...?.....if the performance of both processors are similar then what is the logic behind to manufacture the intel extreme edition processors...?

Isn't it due to the fact that both of those have 6 physical core that are unlocked as opposed to only have 4 cores?

No they are both 6C/12T. Alienware uses the x because they get to charge more for it. The logic behind it is that people will pay for it so why not charge an arm and a leg?

You are entirely right though, there is not good justification for the massive difference in price. $400 is not worth the difference you would notice in performance. It looks like it is entirely a case of people will pay for it. Unless there is some sort of dual chip compatibly or something I am missing?

It's the same reason some people buy multiple titans. They just want to say they have the best when in reality a cheaper part would be almost as powerful for much less money

Let be honest though if money wasn't a concern, why wouldn't you get all the most expensive parts and blow $50,000 on a Pc that's no more powerful than a $5,000 one. Oh and most importantly then tell everyone it's more expensive!
