Why is AMD not updating drivers for 8.1 users?

I just found out that over a year ago, AMD has not been updating drivers for windows 8.1 users. Meanwhile users with 10 and 7 can update to 18.8.1 but 8.1 users can only go up to 17.7.1. Driver 18.8.1 was even updated a couple of days ago for 7 and 10 users. AMD's competitor Nvidia is still updating drivers for users that have 8.1, which begs the question, why is AMD no longer updating 8.1 drivers?

AMD never released an official statement about this, nor have they said anything regarding 8.1 drivers (if they did, please link me). I'm just curious as to why AMD would be silent about this and no longer update drivers for 8.1.

Because they consider it a waste of their limited time and resources for an OS nearly no gamer uses.

"We no longer support Windows 8.1 officially with consumer postings. If users want to use the Windows 7 driver on Windows 8.1 then that is their choice."
