Video of the issue

To keep this brief - I've been struggling to fix this issue for years and still cannot figure out why Windows messes up my Bluetooth signal. When I switch to Linux my signal problems are gone.

I've tried switching from Windows 10 to 11

Tried uninstalling/ reinstalling drivers

Reinstalled windows numerous times

Disabled firewall

Tested different Bluetooth dongles

Tested different Controllers - Xbox one, Ps4, Switch Pro Controller, Series X / All dealt with limited range and latency drops - Using ds4 windows for a ps4 controller I can see what is going on.

Cleared usb ports that weren't in use

Switched Bluetooth adapter to different usb ports

troubleshoot windows bluetooth

Had Microsoft technical support take control over my device only to try the same fixes I did

There has to be some explanation to what is happening to my machine. I literally have to be next to my computer in order for my controller to stay connected.

Like I mentioned using Linux my problems were gone, my latency and range were drastically improved, but I need to use Windows. Can someone please try to figure this out for me?

what make/model USB adapter?

could be age of drivers, might be old chipset and the drivers don't work in 10/11 but linux is different and works with older hardware.

Zexmt 4.0

I have tried different usb adapters too, my pc is new the only thing that is old is my ssd taken from my last computer.

appears it uses RTL8723BU chipset
which is made by Realtek

https://www.realtek.com/en/products/communications-network-ics/item/rtl8723bu
can't find a driver for that, closest is below. I can find linux drivers for it though.

newest drivers are from 2017 - https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/rtl8723be-software

its possible the drivers don't work with win 10/11, they might be marked as win 10 here but could just be win 8.1 drivers that were converted.

You might want to buy a newer adapter if you want to use 10 or 11
i would get one marked below if you want an adapter that will last a few more years
  • WIFI6
  • AX
  • AC2100
they all mean same thing, newest tech.

its a problem for a lot of the old adapters, they based on chips that are getting old and no longer work with Windows 10/11.
