Why is everything on my monitor blurry?

I have been fighting a blurry screen for several weeks, changing my display drivers several times. Well by chance i moved screen and the vga cord dropped off. It was not secured to monitor; I re-attached cables USING the screws this time, and VOILLA, no more blurry screen.
