Ok so I am running this game Anno2070 on medium settings and it must have an average FPS of 16 which is pretty low

My set up is

Laptop

Running an intel i7 3610QM clocked at 2.3 GHz
An Nvidia geforce GTX 670M at 1.5gb ram
windows 7
Running off an internal 500gb HDD 3G/s transfer rate
16 GB of ram operating at 1333Mhz
It also includes the nvidia optimus technology

May I also mention when preforming the future mark bench tests my laptop scored about 3 FPS on all test except the cpu physics test which averaged around 37 FPS.

I bought it about a month ago at £1000 so it's by far not cheap and cheerful...

I don't expect this machine to do wonders but I think something is wrong, and before I take the risk of sending it back to be repaired and possibly face a big bill if there is no fault I just want to know what the community think?

I have set it to use the nvidia dedicated graphics card in the nvidia control panel and also right click and press use nvidia high end graphics card but still same laggy gameplay.

After reading my specs what would you expect this game to run like on high ??

Also is it possible that my card is broken ? or maybe the game is too old and my computer is too new ??

Nope I have checked everything. One weird thing I did pick up was that after installing Nvidia inspector I was unable to change the performance of the gpu when under load (it stayed at its lowest power consumption config even when under a heavy load). Its almost like the gpu won't power up when it needs to :/ I mean I should deffinatly be able to run this game on high spec right ???

its on the highest load setting and is still only clocking 75mhz

as its a lappy make sure your not running on power saving mode.
this can often be overlooked. many a time i have seen ooh! its running slow... and i look in power management to see its set to balanced instead of high performance.

OK after further test I have found it will over clock to 500Mhz when the power cable is plugged in, but when it runs on battery power even on high performance it will not allow the card to go past 75Mhz... is this normal ?

But it surely could go faster than 75 mhz on battery power ??

No I asked my manufacturer the question to which they said send it back. After a long wait they told me what I already thought. The laptop does not provide enough power from the battery source to power the graphics card at full speed so it can't go any faster unless you plug it in which then provides more power to the laptop. Don't know why there tech team couldn't answer me -.- It is my first gaming laptop and first nvidia optiums card so had never had experience with power issues like this before. In summary plug your lap top in and in will work and make sure your power management settings are set to high performance not power save or balanced.
