[SOLVED] Why is it that memory storage on a PC doesn't have anything to do with DDR?

Hi guys, I know that CPU and Ram uses DDR but why is that regular storage like the SSD that boots my windows doesn't have any ddr generations?

My Specs - Intel i7-4790k 4.00ghz
120 GB SSD
1TB HDD
8GB DDR3 ram
Asus All series motherboard

I'm asking because I want to upgrade my storage from 120 GB to 2TB SSD and by the time ddr5 comes out it should only affect Ram right? not the regular storage?

RAM and FLASH memory are not the same.
FLASH like in SSD's can keep data with no power connected.
RAM like all DDR generations need constant power to maintain data, it would suck if evey little brownout or power failure wiped ALL your data, this is why SSD's have a small RAM cache (non-persistent) and a large amount of slower flash memory (persistent).
