Why is left and right audio coming out of my left headphone?

Hi all, I just recently soldered a new cord to my dt 770 pro 250 ohms after cutting off the female end. This one. The problem is that the left audio wire brings in both left and right sound. So, I hear only right sound in my right ear, but both left and right sound in my left ear. What could be going on? Is the cord the culprit? If so, which cord should i buy if I'm trying to solder it to the headphones? Thanks!
