This is a question I have been meaning to ask on here for a long time now. Bought some new parts for my desktop back in 2018, including new motherboard, CPU chip and cooler for the CPU. The problem is the CPU cooler is incredibly loud and has been since day one. I initially ignored it, but it's got to the point where it's just a huge distraction.

Can anyone advise me on what to do. Is it meant to be this loud? The cooler is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 I believe.

Solution
From what I understand from some people here and at different tech boards.

It shouldn't be that loud, maybe a medium soft hum noise should be barely noticeable.

Check your bios and cpu-z and make sure the temps are stable.
If their a cake of dust around the cooler or on the fans and you have not cleaned it every so often.
I would expect to hear more noise come from it due to the amount of build up on it.

Thanks I checked the temps yesterday and everything was fine. Was 40-42 degrees the cpu and motherboard was 26 I think. I'll strip out the cooler today and see if it needs a dusting off.
