Question Why is my CPU overheating ?

Ryzen 7 3700x 8-core processor
Rtx 3060
2 x 16GB corsair ram

So I've cleaned my computer and reapplied thermal paste and my cpu keeps overheating , what do I do? I did just install the 3060 replacing my 2060, it started overheating a week after that.

Overheating? Did it overheat prior to the cleaning? What are your temps? How are you checking? What CPU cooler? What case? How many fans?

Right off the bat I'm going to say if you're using an AIO water cooler the pump probably died. Its extremely unlikely but still possible that the change in power draw from the new GPU caused the issue, but more than likely it was just a coincidence.

If you're using an air cooler, take the side panel off your case off and try maxing out the fan speeds in the UEFI and seeing if that solves the issue. If it does not, it means there's poor contact between the heatsink and CPU.

And by overheating do you mean thermal throttling?
