I have a dell xps 15 7590 with an intel i7-9750H CPU, and not until recently did my fans start spinning fast and my laptop gets really hot, naturally I tried to figure out what was the issue, so I launched core temp and found out that just idling my cpu was on average about 85 degrees. I tried stress testing it but five seconds after it started the temps hit around 100 and just froze so I shut it down. Any clue as to what could be the issue?

Solution
See that your cooling pathways are clear.
Verify that your cooling fan is spinning.

It would be most unusual to have a need to replace the thermal grease is such a short time.
If you might have dropped the laptop, possibly the cooler has been dislodged.

needs new thermal paste probably. make sure the cooler is working correctly too. might be all filled up with dust inside the laptop
