Windows 10 - brand new Toshiba X300 8TB hard drive. I connect it to my computer via USB connector and this is what I see...it's removeable F:

What do I need to do so my windows computer will see it and I can save to it?

I've tried this -> https://www.amazon.com/BENFEI-Drive...locphy=9011076&hvtargid=pla-571127053636&th=1

As well as this ->

A Very similar one to that works with my Samsung EVO 1 TB drive?
That will work for a SATA SSD, or most 2.5" HDD.
They only need the 5V that USB can provide.

A 3.5" HDD requires both 5V and 12V.
Which cannot be had from the USB port.

You need an adapter that plugs into the wall to provide the needed power.

Something like these:

If that dock from Walmart did not work, either that dock is faulty or your drive is faulty.

@USAFRet - i just rebooted the PC and used the walmart drive...and i hear thd rive spinning....and windows now shoes it like this

how can I "extend" or "expand" the current partition of G: to be the remainder of the drive (the remaining 5 GB)

Does that dock work with a different drive?
If so, the drive is faulty.

If not, that dock may be faulty.

well after seeing this message, that I didn't know...i might be about to keep my 1TB as the OS and solely use this drive as back-up storage

Or maybe install games to.

You're seeing that MBR info when connected to this 8TB?

Then it works.

But it needs to be reformatted as GPT. This will allow access to the full 8TB (7.2TB) drive space.

My end game here is to replace a 1TB drive with this 8TB drive.

I want it to appear as no change was made, desktop/apps/programs/documents/downloads etc all still remain exactly the same.

I guess since i'd be going from 1TB to an 8TB a direct clone wouldn't be ideal?

One thing at a time.

Format it as GPT.
Get the whole 8TB to be seen.

Then we can go into cloning or whatever.

This is not your OS drive, right?

Used disk part to format as GPT

The 'source' drive or the 1TB drive is the OS drive...Ideally i'd like to get an exact copy of it...but it's the OS drive of a different computer connected via USB

Interestingly the 1TB I want to clone from is also GPT

You keep introducing more and more weirdnesses.

You wish to take this 1TB drive from PC A, clone it to the 8TB, and use that in PC B?

sorry not trying to introduce weirdness...

No I want to clone the drive from PC A from a 1TB to an 8TB that will be used in PC B

I thought and this could be ignorance talking here, that I needed to disconnect the drive to clone it so that is why I have the 1TB from PC A connected to PC B

"I want to clone the drive from PC A from a 1TB to an 8TB that will be used in PC B"

No, don't do this.
This is unlikely to actually work.

A Windows install is not as modular as we'd all like, to be moved between different hardware.
Including a "clone".

This will probably fail.

Damn - that is not what I'm doing it...i mis-type my apalogies....I want to clone the 1TB drive from PC A to an 8TB drive that will be used in PC A --- just upgrading to a larger drive in PC A

OK then...thats different and will likely work.

Lets start over.

With the system running on the 1TB, and the 8TB in that dock...does that 8TB drive appear in Disk Management?
If so, DELETE all existing partitions.
Reformt as GPT.

Assuming success, then we can talk about a clone operation.
