Why is my FPS so low? Anger

My FPS will range from 10-60 in games such as skyrim, chivarly and crysis when my rig should be handling it just fine.

My steup:

I'm gonna do a virus/malware scan, defragment my drive and see if I can reduce my startup processes list. Other than that I'm clueless - any ideas???

Check for over heating & update GPU drivers. Are there games that do play OK and does reducing settings help?

I have had problems of low fps and no reason why. What I did was go to task manager, processes, then I clicked mem usage two times and I looked at ones I didn't recognize, Googled them, then choose if I should end them.
