[SOLVED] why is my fps so low

i recently bought a rtx 2070 super and my fps is very low. it has gone down since the upgrade and i wonder why this is. if i change the graphics settings the fps stays the same.

on rust i get 40 fps
on csgo i get 100-120

You could be bottlenecked by CPU and/or thermal throttling.

cpu: i3-6100 (will upgrade in january)
motherboard: ASUS B150m-plus
16gb ram

Your FPS should not have gone down. As you probably know you are very limited by your cpu so I would also understand your FPS not increasing.

What are your cpu and gpu temperatures when gaming?

im thinking about getting a i5-9600k or something like that
my gpu temperatures are about 60 degrees, and i have not checked the cpu temperatures

Please check cpu temperatures. Need to find out why you lost FPS. It wouldn’t be the first time a cpu cooler has become loose or misaligned while installing a gpu.

As a 9600k is going to need a new motherboard anyway I’d look at the Ryzen lineup. Anything between the 3600 to 3700X is in my opinion a much better setup than the i5 lineup.
