ive done my research and my evga 550w gold psu should be enough for my rx 580 8gb, then why is it shutting down when i benchmark it?? i can play games just fine. but when i benchmark my whole system it just turns off

Solution
PSU can be one of the things, but you have decent unit unless its faulty.

Try underclocking the GPU in afterburner by about 100mhz, apply it and see if it crashes while underclocked - have seen a few that work fine when underclocked, if thats the case then return it for a new one.
dang really. to be honest im not even sure if my gpu is the main problem here, when i tried over voltaging my gpu from 950 to 1150 it turned off, maybe it is the psu, but many online forums said 550w psu is good and i can even over clock it

pretty sure I saw more

PSU might be underpowered at max loadout; I assume you are running the latest drivers for your GPU?

What games are you using to bench mark? Have you tried Heaven to benchmark? What are your CPU temps?
I have the latest radeon software ver. 19.2.2 and I'm using the userbenchmark for my benchmark idk exactly how to see my CPU temps

I dont know how to use Afterburner but I did use the Amd global wattman I tried undercoating it there but it crashed regardless.

I also noticed that

my bad, I cant reduce the core clock below 670 mhz

you're right I had to reduce my clock speed my about 3 percent, now i can benchmark it properly. I did it in the wattman though not in afterburner
