It's a competition thing. 3200MHz kits have flooded the market thanks to Ryzen popularity, even being cheaper than 2400MHz kits. But with 3rd generation Ryzen sweetspot being 3733MHz, the push to sell the overabundance of remaining 3200MHz stock bought under contract a while back is getting even rougher, so prices are really tanking. That's great for 1st/2nd Ryzen buyers and a performance hit to 3rd gen whom are looking at 3600+ and it's considerably higher prices.

Bdie wasn't the best, it's just the most compatible. With 1st gen issues, Bdie C14 had far and above the least amount of problems getting 3200MHz, so Ddie C16 would normally have no issues with 2933MHz, but 3200MHz was a maybe. Micron based were almost as good, but SkHynix...
I've got two Patriot Viper Steel Series 4000Mhz kits that use the same b-die I told Nighthawk about in his other thread about the kit in question. In total they were $195 before tax. https://ibb.co/bPb9fxs

Edit - I'm not recommending these kits, but they are still ridiculously cheap and seem to work fine at 3200Mhz and 14-14-14-34 1.35v and I've got both running at 3000Mhz 14-14-14-34 1.35v.

4000mhz 2x8gb is steep.

Is that a question for me?

I was using an MSI b350 gaming plus and AMD Ryzen 5 2600

Old ram
2x4gb G.skill Ripjaws 3200mhz c16 (samsung e die)
2x8gb G.skill Aegis 3200mhx C16 (samsung b die)

If i cleared cmos the system would boot with all 4 stick, but this had the ram underclocked to 1800mhz, which i didn't know was possible for ddr4.

No boot with xmp. Heck, no boot with 2133 mhz even with 1.2v soc and 1.45v dram.

Not really an issue as i have a buyer for my old ram for $30 on fb marketplace
