I bought a new gpu: nvidia geforce gtx 980ti. I went to test it, i put it in and started my computer completely fine. I downloaded the drivers. I could use google and other apps like spotify fine, but then I opened a game and less than 5 minutes in my computer shut off. I tried this multiple times. Then I tried to put my old nvidia geforce gtx 550ti in and it was running normally. Ive tried asking multiple people for help but nothing worked. If anyone can help, thanks.

Solution
A GTX 550TI requires a lower Power Supply. The GTX 980TI requires a bigger PSU.

What is your PSU brand and model?

Probably your PSU cannot give the juice to the 980TI and it shuts down your computer.

That or overheating.
