Why isnt my xbox 360 hard drive being read???

Hello,

I have a 250GB Xbox hard drive and it says that there is no storage device connected and I have a transfer cable and when I plug it in that it says that I only have an USB Storage Device available but it can read my other hard drive. I am so confused. Please help.
