Could be a sign of some corrupted files.
Is all important data backed up?
Did the icons have the correct/expected images and then the images just disappeared?
When did that happen?
Any new app installations or updates?
Check the pathnames to the various icons.
Check the folders where the icons reside.
Use an application such as kid3 to manage audio file tags for artist, album and image information.band shows a photo of some random guy, how can i fix this?
i don't get it, i don't want to do anything with icons, i'm referring to the images being displayed by the media playerFor lack of a specific icon, Windows/Apps will just use a generic icon.
Firefox, as an example, will simply use its' own icon for shortcuts. However I can, and have, gone to the properties of the shortcut and changed the icon to an icon of my choosing. The icon may be some general icon included with Windows or a specific icon from some set of icons that I downloaded.
Icons are likely to be stored just about any where it seems. Sometimes my icon selections get overrriden via some update or "bug".
Some developers do not bother with unique or meaningful icons for whatever reason or reasons they may have.
What you @reigner can do is to create a couple of new desktop shortcuts, e.g., IconTest1, IconTest2, and so forth. Then practice using the creation process and properties options to assign icons of your own choosing to the shortcuts. No need to do more than a couple of shortcuts.
Use Windows Explorer and a wild card search to find *.ico files. Likely to be dozens of them scattered through various folders.
Make note of the path to any given icon and then go to one of the test shortcuts and use "Change icon" to change the icon.
After you gain a sense of how it all works then you can apply that process to assign icons and images to your shortcut.
There are various tutorials online as well. Read through a few of them and then try.

Introduction to Kid3. You may be able to find a better video for the subject. I didn't spend much time looking for one.
And yes, it can be time consuming depending on how many files there are to correct.
The library tag sources which supply metadata for a wide range of media can't always be relied upon. When it is embedded within the file itself, it will display it.
