Question Why my asus a17 fa707rm BIOS does not have any options for adjusting speed?

Just put these into my asus a17 fa707rm a couple days ago - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLTDRRLF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Since then, I have been trying to find a way to access the "AI Tweaker" option in my BIOS, but I haven't been able to find that section for some reason, and I'm not sure why.

Any ideas?

RAM is currently running at 4800, but it can go up to 5600. I'm trying to get it up to its fastest speed.

I'm running a Ryzen 7 6800H if that matters.

I can't hear the audio on it, but you can see that his BIOS does not have an AI Tweaker option...

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Mind sharing a link where you see the laptop will go to DDR5-5600MHz?

If you look here;
It states in the memory section that the max frequency the rams will run at are DDR5-4800MHz. Your platform won't go beyond that.

Ah, well that puts an end to my search, haha, thanks for the info!

Curious, though, not sure if you would have any idea, but why would there not be an AI tweaker option in my bios? Is it because it is already maxed out or?

It's because the maker did not want users muckin around and breaking stuff.
So, the bios either has it or doesn't based on the mboard then? No way to "add it into" the bios if it's not there to begin with?

If so, any way of knowing which boards do this vs. those that don't, so I know before purchasing something else?

Laptops almost always have limited BIOS, and never have I seen RAM overclocking on any mainstream one. Even the ones like mine, where CPU overclocking is unlocked, it is a pointless exercise. Performance is always limited by the limited power budget, not by memory speed. Point being, even if you could OC the RAM, you'd see exactly zero net benefit.

When you say "Performance is always limited by the limited power budget, not by memory speed.", what do you mean exactly?

Laptops have much lower power budgets than desktops, due to the reduced cooling capability (and current draw on the battery). That is the reason they run at much lower clockspeeds on, well almost every part of the machine. The reduced CPU clockspeed reduces the requirement for greater RAM bandwidth, so you would see zero benefit with faster RAM, if it were even possible to overclock it.

(Edit: wording, clarity)

That's good stuff, I'm not super tech savvy, thanks!
