Hi!
Just wondering if anyone knows why there are no true edge-to-edge displays out yet, whether they be mobile or monitor?
As im sure most of you are aware, earlier this year Samsung announced and demonstrated their new ‘Youm’ flexible display technology, and as you can clearly see from both the many videos and pictures the display has such a minute bezel it is basically non-existent. Arguably, todays AMOLED displays are also edge-to-edge if you have ever disassembled a modern smartphone such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 (I disassembled the broken screen on mine after replacing it), so why can manufacturers of today simply not include the bezel?
I am sure that it is not as simple as ‘not adding a bezel’, and there is a perfectly rational explanation for it, I’m just wondering what it is exactly?
