why the difference in my internet speeds?

My internet was just upgraded today. I have my phone and my laptop sitting right beside eachother both connected to the same wifi, but on my phone I get 28 down and 6.5 up, and on my laptop I only get 23 down and 6 up. Can anyone explain to me why?

It could be the age of the laptop not supporting fibre speeds as most modern smartphones come with an AC wifi chop it could also be the location of the laptops wireless chip. Have you tried Ethernet as well as wifi?

Slightly better antenna in the phone, or it just happens to be better aligned for reception.

Havent tried ethernet but if I move to the same room as the router, they both get 36 down and 7 up. sounds like its just a difference in antennas I guess.
