2Mbps is roughly 200 KB/s. Because 1Mbit (Mega bit) is 1024b (bytes) aka 102Kb/s (Kilo bytes per second).

so its my provider. their saying i should get 7 MB/s but im only getting 200 KB/s.

No...your "2megabits" from your Task Manager = "2megabytes" from Steam.
There is no issue.

If you're supposed to get 7 megabits from your provider, what does speedtest.net tell you?

No, just two different issues.

1. a non -issue. 2mbps = 200kbps This is normal
2. 7mbps vs 2mbps. That may be the ISP

No...your "2megabits" from your Task Manager = "2megabytes" from Steam.
There is no issue.

2 Mbps (lowercase b) is 2 Mega BITS per second.

200 KBps (uppercase B) is 200 Kilo BYTES per second.

There are 8 bits in a byte, so:

• 2 Mbps is about 0.250 MBps, or 250KBps
• 200 KBps is about 1,600 Kbps, or 1.6 Mbps.

Why you're not getting closer to the full 250KBps when downloading from Steam may be partly from the slight overhead involved in normal data transfer, and partly that your ISP might be providing "up to" 2 Mbps, or just isn't giving you full speed all the time.

My service is 100Mbps (about 12.5MBps), and I get around that, maybe slightly less, when downloading from Steam.
