Why wont 32Gbs work??

Hi all,

I built my PC in 2011 and have used four sticks of 4gb RAM until this week, when I bought new 8gb sticks (four of them).
When i tried to install today, my system
1. wont boot/pass with three or four sticks set to profiles 1 or 2
2. wont finish loading the OS (win 7) w/ ram set to 'default'
3. BUT running 3 sticks in any slots at default settings is successful, and CPU-Z sees all 24gb's ...

is this a power issue? a bios issue?

Solutions already tried:
installing sticks one at a time, in different slots, and swapping them around
Contacting Mobo support: they say that it's a CPU issue, and that my i7 may be unstable?

OS: Win 7 64bit Professional, Service Pack 1 (w/ latest updates)

CPU: i7-2600k 3.4GHz
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD5 (bios v1)
Ram:
(former) G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 (F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL)
(new) G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 (F3-2133C9D-16GXH)
GPU: EVGA Titan 1080 FTW
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 1TB

Maybe it's the motherboard itself or it's even the CPU. However, I think it's more of a motherboard issue to be honest.

Have you tried updating your BIOS?

1. Does your newly purchased RAM meet those requirements ?

2. Do you have the latest BIOS ? / Have later BIOS provided additional RAM support.

3. When you look in BIOS do the settings for speed, and timings match those on the package ?

4. Was the new RAM purchased with all 4 sticks in the same package ? Do the settings match the SPD ?

5. Did you clear CMOS after installing the new sticks ?

6. Has each stick passed memtest 86+ (12 hours)

Your new ram is 1.6V and the board uses 1.5V memory

The board uses DDR3 which

is absolutely fine with any Z97 board made by any of the manufacturer's listed. 1.5v applies to the JEDEC compliant SPD settings, not XMP which will require higher voltages.

I did notice that the memory support list included models only up to 4 GB in size. This simply means that someone paid to have these models tested ... the board officially supports 32 GB in 4 slots.
