Why won't my laptop BIOS detect my SSD?

I figured I'd start here, and I know it's been asked before but I have been unable to find an answer anywhere.

I have a Hybrid HDD and a SSD, both have windows 10, the Hybrid is in my current laptop and my SSD is in my other laptop. They both work in the current situations, but I want to use my SSD in my new laptop so after swapping and booting up I get nothing, saying there are no bootable devices present. Yes my BIOS is set to AHCI (doesn't even support IDE).

The only way I was able to get it to boot from the SSD was to connect it via USB and set my rom boot to Legacy, even then it wasn't nearly 100%, doing it that way while connected to SATA would cause it to bluescreen.

Thanks in advance!

Then I would use that laptop to delete ALL partitions on that drive, then reinstall it in the other laptop that it's not currently working on and try again. Are other drives recognized normally on the laptop that isn't recognizing the SSD?

Have you checked to see if that laptop has a BIOS update available that may improve compatibility and recognition of SSD devices. There is actually a BIOS update available that was released in December 2014, so it's very recent. I'd recommend updating the BIOS firmware and try the drive again.

Windows 10 is a beta platform right now. Don't expect ANY compatibility between platforms or installations on one device to work on another. If you want to use the SSD on the other laptop you will probably need to start from scratch and reinstall on the target device.

That's just it though, both hard drives have Windows 10 installed on them, is it my laptop in general? I have an inspiron 15 5547. I read that some Inspiron models have a hard time dealing with samsung SSDs

- And I don't even have the option to reinstall windows on the SSD on my current (newer) laptop as it does not have the slightest clue of it being plugged in.
