It is possible that printing was paused. You can view the status of your printer, queue, and pause, resume, or cancel printing from Devices and Printers under the Control Panel, which in Windows 8 you can access by right clicking in the lower left corner of the screen and clicking Control Panel in the resulting menu. Instructions for how to pause, cancel, or resume printing are available here from Microsoft Support.
My new HP Deskjet 1050A is keeping things in memory but will not print. It printed the alignment page but nothing since
Check to see if it's installed properly and that it is set as the Default Printer.
'Windows' key plus 'X'
Choose Control Panel from the list and then View Devices and Printers.
You should see a Printer icon with a green 'tick' on it, if the green tick is elsewhere Rt click on your Printer icon and set as default.
