Why won't Windows load after upgrading my Gateway's RAM?

Hey,

I have a Gateway 509GE desktop.
It currently has (2) 512mb PC3200 (200mhz), DDR 400 CL3 RAM cards in it.
It's capable of 4GB of RAM. I purchased (4) 1024mb PC3200 (400mhz), DDR 400 DIMM CL3 cards.

After turning my desktop off, I installed all 4 cards. My comp recognized the updated memory but Windows wouldn't load. I then put the original two back in it and tested the cards 1 by 1. I couldnt get pass my Windows 7 load screen before the computer restarts.

The only other thing that I could do is update my BIOS. It's dated back to 2005, but I can't find any place to download an updated version. Besides, this PC is supposed to support 4GB of ram anyways, so idk why windows won't load. I've popped the silver battery out and reinstalled it, as well as trying to do a fresh windows 7 install with the ram installed. Failed.

Any suggestions?
