Timbuktu is a small impoverished city in west Africa, chances are if you have relatives here they not going to have internet access...

@mrmez
'Even crazier, you can actually talk to someone face to face!!!
I know, its NUTS!

Im sure they will have an app for that soon.'

actually they do, it's called facetime........ still not going help you if your stuck in Timbuktu 😛

I dislike the term "Wi-fi". The term is so trendy and popularized, that it doesn't really have a clear enough definition. Is it any wireless LAN? Do cell phones count (they're wireless)? Does it include your home WLAN or just Starbucks's et. al. WLANs?
Can I live without WLAN? Yes. Does it make my life easier? Yes. If I didn't have it, it would just motivate me to actually get off my butt and wire my house with cat6 like I've been meaning to for quite a while now. Then I wouldn't really notice it being gone.

That is blasphemy! Do not bring your evil ways into my world!

I hate coffee and TV. And long distance relationships I'm sure are hard to maintain without internet if either one of your phones go disconnected, or just cost a lot for long distance calling.

Answer yes or no: Have you stopped beating your wife?

Ask a deceptive and leading question, and you know what kind of answer you'll get. Why don't they ask, "Do you think your relationships would suffer more if you lost WiFi or if you lost the ability to speak and hear?" Survey says...!?

Meanwhile, as the father of a few "millennials", I wouldn't trust most of their friends to tell me the time, much less ask their opinions about how one should conduct realationships. Heck, I know *I* was a complete moron about relationships when I was their age. What do you expect?

Bottom line: garbage research.

Wi-Fi is such an unreliable connection so why even have a story about how important it is? Ask any serious gamer about their thouts on dropped connections. Wi-Fi is nice if you are out and about and need a quick connection to do something but nothing compares to a hard line connection.
