Hello, Im planning to build a new PC but I dont know wich CPU and motherboard fits well with the 1080 ( I dont want to overclock).

Solution

Oh absolutely! And getting a Z-series motherboard ensures you can overclock in the future should you ever want to of course with a K-chip. It has very high user reviews on Amazon. One thing I learned as a kid in the Boy Scouts: it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

At the moment 1080 but I want to buy a 2k monitor soon and I play mainly the newest games, but some older games like CS:GO and so on.

Okay I think Im gonna take the i7 then but do you think it is worth for me to take the k version to just have the option to overclock in a few years or should I just stay with the non k version ? Sorry for my bad english btw.

Your English is fine and in fact better than a lot of Americans here LOL. Anyway as one who runs 1440p with an i5, I see little performance improvement in games when overclocking over running stock. Of course that's a different story when running productivity apps like Vegas Studio for video rendering where I notice a significant faster render time at say 4.7GHz vs. stock 3.5GHz on all four cores.

If you are only gaming, you won't need the K. However if your build is also for productivity, a K chip might be worth it for future overclocking to keep your chip up to performance equality of future few generations. Hope that helps!

Ok then thanks for your help but I only have one question left: Is a GIGABYTE Z370P D3, Mainboard ok for the I7 non k version or should i take a better one ?

That's up to you. Most boards are similar in respective budgets, but each has their own gimmicks. Some have just Sata, some have m.2 slots, some use advanced audio, some have led lights, some have Killer Lan for faster internet. With a non-k cpu, any overclocking features are useless, leaving the gimmicks as the important stuff. So you'll need to decide if that Gigabyte does everything, fits everything, has the fun stuff like leds or is even the right color to match the rest of the pc.

While any z370 will work, it'll be up to you to determine if it's right for you.

I dont want to oc the gpu or the cpu for the first time.
