Hello,

Next semester at college I'm moving into a new apartment with only wifi(no Ethernet ports) Being as that I am a hardcore gamer, I'm weary of gaming on a less than stellar wifi connection. With that being said, how would I go about extending/boosting the wifi signal to get a better connection.

*I will not have access to the router.

Thanks!
Kenny

I assume you are just using a system that is provided by the apartments as part of your lease, you could look into getting your own internet connection.
Surprising you did not research this more before you picked the apartment. This tends to be a key selection criteria for many people.

Most likely the answer is nothing you will be allowed to do will help. A repeater to work properly must be place 1/2 between the router and the end device. This likely is not in a area you have control over. A repeater though does degrade the signals so it likely would not help for games anyway.

The only option that would work is to use a direction outdoor wireless bridge. You would need a clear line of sight to the building that has the wireless signal. Best the unit goes outside but that likely is not allowed in apartments. You would have to get very lucky and be able to put in a window. Still it may not make a huge difference because it works best when there are direction bridges on both ends.
