I bought a cheap wifi Cf /microsd card, and I have it connected to my PC, via wifi.

Hi there,

I bought a cheap wifi CompactFlash card that takes a microsd card. I have it connected to my PC (windows 8.1) via wifi.

It is connected to my PC though, I looked for networks available, and this was one of them. Not connected to my router.

If I can see this device, do you suppose that I might be able to read and write from/to the card within?

It is this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-SD-Card-TF-to-Wifi-CF-CompactFlash-Memory-Card-Adapter-for-DSLR-Camera/263818365097?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Which seems to be 192.168.100.100, with a dynamic IP of 192.168.100.1, I really don't know what I should do next to read or write to it, on my windows 8.1 PC.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I sucessfully got a Toshiba Flashair set up this week, and would love to be able to do something with this CF wifi card.

Does anyone have any idea on how I might set it up?

You got a Tosh FlashAir to actually work?
Please...details!

I was a longtime fan of the Eye-Fi. Thousands of pics through it. And when they went into idiotville...I got a FlashAir W-04. Could never get it to work properly.

Details, please.

Hey, it took me about 8 hours to get the Flashair W-04 working correctly, so I may as well share the knowledge.

I will assume that you want to use APPMODE=5, STA mode, where you can stay connected to the internet at the same time as connect to the Flashair.

This means that you actually want to connect the Flashair to your router.

Start by updating the firmware of the Flashair card. https://jp.toshiba-memory.com/ww/support/download/flashair/w04/update02.htm

I would begin by connecting with your router through a web page (192.168.0.1) in my case,. and going to advanced settings, DHCP and setting up a reserved rule for the MAC address of your Flashair card (found on the back). I would give it the IP address that you intend to use later - same as your router IP address, but change the last 2 digits to something not being used. I chose 192.168.0.23.

Now go to the Flashair card itself. Navigate to the hidden folder SD_WLAN, and open it. Inside it will be a CONFIG file with no extension. Open this with notepad++ and make sure the bottom line of the notepad++ screen says Windows (CR LF) next to UTF-8 like in this pic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/e96bq8j6aymr39m/notepad.png?dl=0

Make the CONFIG like this, changing the parts outlined in this example:

[Vendor]

UPLOAD=1
APPMODE=5
CIPATH=/DCIM/100__TSB/FA000001.JPG
APPSSID=PUT YOUR ROUTER NAME HERE
APPNETWORKKEY=PUT YOUR ROUTER PASSWORD HERE
APPNAME=myflash
APPAUTOTIME=0
VERSION=PUT YOUR VERSION HERE
CID=PUT YOUR CID HERE
PRODUCT=FlashAir
VENDOR=TOSHIBA
UPDIR=/
MASTERCODE=d053491d00a7 (CHANGE THIS IF YOU WANT)
LOCK=1
WEBDAV=2
DNSMODE=1
STA_RETRY_CT=0
WLANAPMODE=0x83 (DELETE THIS IF DIFFERENT: THIS IS FOR 801.11 b/n/g) see here: https://www.flashair-developers.com/en/documents/api/config/#WLANAPMODE

[WLANSD]

ID=PUT YOUR ROUTER NAME HERE
DHCP_Enabled=No
IP_Address=192.168.0.23 (THE IP I CHOOSE EARLIER IN RULE)
Subnet_Mask=255.255.255.0 (CHANGE TO YOUR SUBNET MASK)
Default_Gateway=192.168.0.1 (CHANGE TO YOUR ROUTERs IP)
Preffered_DNS_Server=192.168.0.1 (CHANGE TO YOUR ROUTERs IP)

This page is useful for the details of the CONFIG file: https://www.flashair-developers.com/en/documents/api/config/

I had previously changed my router wireless connection to 2.4ghz only, disabling 5ghz, as my phone would reconnect all the time, this could also help.

I think that should get you going.

To test it, navigate a web browser to the IP address that you gave to the device I went to 192.168.0.23. Then the magic part - You can now map a network drive from any windows (8) folder near the top right, give it the address http://192.168.0.23/ (or your own Flashair IP) and it will be a networked drive, available when turned on and within usable distance of your router 🙂

Anyone else reading - I still haven't got to do anything with the cheap WIFI CF card adapter. I would love to be able to use it, so please fire any suggestions this way 🙂
