My Device: Dell Latitude E5530
Main Router: Huawei HG8245Q
Extender: TP Link. Model No. TL-WR740N/TL-WR741ND

Good day all, I've been having an issue with my wifi on my PC where it drops from time to time
It never says Disconnected or No Internet in the wifi menu its always "Connected, secured"

YouTube and other services (like IDM will download 10GB no problem) work normally for the most part where itll only disconnect (or ill notice it disconnected) after quite some time but as soon as i open Minecraft for example itll disconnected after a few minutes of play sometimes itll be nice and let me stay connected for a while before eventually dropping. when i notice theres drop i have to quickly switch airplane mode off/on in order to stay connected

But this only happens on my PC all other devices (IPad, TV, Android devices, etc) work fine and i can play games or whatever without interruption

What i've tried from google searches and this very site:

Adjusting the spot of the routers and the antennas (antennae?)
Uninstalling wireless driver & letting the pc reboot to reinstall
Setting static IPv4 / IPv6
Using google dns in PC settings
Resetting main router
Resetting TP link router
Resetting network settings on the pc
using cmd netsh winsock commands i cant remember them exactly
Changing the power plan so it doesn't disconnect the wifi to save power
changing the wlan auto config to automatic in services.msc
setting the network to private
and so much more trials that all end in the same result; to disconnect a few minutes later

so idk what to do now

Which wireless are you near, and if the TP Link is it attached to the router with an Ethernet cable?
You laptop and extender (AP?) are older G/N wireless.
Gaming is the most latency sensitive uses and wireless is always the last choice.
It is common when a wireless device loses Internet that is shows it is still connected -- it's still connected to the router or AP radio, just not the Internet connection that it lost.

Connected via ethernet yes
The TV and my PC are connected to the TP link most of the time. Sometimes the phones when we're in the bedroom .

So there's no fix? Just upgrade my stuff?

You don't have to upgrade, but if you cannot connect the computer with a cable, I would isolate the computer on its own wireless radio with nothing else using it to see if that improves performance. G/N wireless is not much bandwidth at any distance, far less than the manufacturer quoted numbers.

Also, on the TP-Link in the wireless settings insure that the mode is set to N only for potentially better performance.

Thank you for your response!

Sadly, neither of those had any effect.

Works fine with the ethernet cable connected directly to the PC actually but then there's no Wi-Fi in half my house. 😕

Can't you just plug the Ethernet cable into one of the TP-Link LAN ports? They work like a switch when the device is used as an AP.
Yeah, the ethernet cable was plugged into the TP Link router all the time i never connected the TP Link wirelessly to the main router

I purchased a longer ethernet cable and connected it directly to the PC and I found these commands that allow me to make my PC a wireless hotspot using the ethernet connection so the other half of the house has WiFi but I can't leave the PC running 24/7 :/

These are the commands i found:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=YOURSSID key=PASSWORD
netsh wlan start hostednetwork

I guess the TP Link router was a waste of $450 (in my currency) as it only gave me a speed of 24-26mbps with the frequent dropping and now with the ethernet cable connected to the PC i have speeds of 150-160mbps so games, etc. run seamlessly with no dropping

I hoped for a fix but as i said it seems the TP Link was a waste of money. I guess I'll have to purchase another extender, probably a newer model.

Thank you so much, RealBeast, for your time, patience and suggestions.
