I just moved a computer for a friend from one room to another as they replaced it with a new one. That said the old one in the other room has no internet source. They want to use it in the other room. What would be the best way to get internet to that computer? It will be 20' or so from the router. It is not line of site but it is pretty close overall. I have not had to look for anything like this before so I am kind of out of the loop. Thanks.

RF Pigtail AKA SMA to RP-SMA AKA Wifi antenna cable
You can probably source this cheapest locally at an electronics store...

You are absolutely right but I would have done that if it were at all possible. There is no attic space or crawl space below. The ceilings are finished also with no access unless you really want a repair job. It is an office space so that is the reason it is what it is. Wireless of some sort is the only way it will work.

Blah that is tough. Commercial buildings also have Steel Beams, are earthquake proof, and any cement or cinder-blocks are probably reinforced with rebar. Wifi is going to be spotty. If it is a shared office unit or has much going on in the building, powerline adapters are out of the question.

Your best bet is something with external antennas that you can swap out for a high gain ones. That combined with a good wifi router and you should be OK given the shorter distance.

If it is a desktop you can either go with the fairly expensive PCI cards that have cable to extend the antennas to the top of the case. Asus is one of the more popular cards. It may be simpler though to use a USB wifi device on a usb extension cord. Some come with a long cord. External antenna are best. The ones to avoid are the tiny device that almost hide in the slot.

The advantage to the PCI cards is they almost all transmit at maximum power and have large antenna.

In both cases the goal is to get the device out from behind the computer where it can get clear signals.

Then some 9 dbi antennas. Anything over 9dbi is BS marketing fluff as it would require an amplifier from what i gather.
