Hi All,

I have virgin business internet, a TP link P7 mesh thing that I conect ethernet from the router to one of the mesh discs and then have another P7 disc connected via wifi and this gives me my Wifi around the house. Recently its been going red and not working. I have to pull the plug and then plug it back in. Eveytime the router is fine, PS5 on other ethernet port is fine. Its driving me crazy as now its doing it 5 times a day. Done usual things, used different port on router, reset P7 discs, swapped them over, updated firmware which has made it worse.

I want to buy something that I can create a wifi network, but have one plugged in off router ethernet port, but the 2nd mesh device also plugged into the router with another ethernet cable. I have one run upstirs and one downstairs.

is their a mesh or TP link thing I can buy which does it that way ? so its the same wifi network ( only one ) and every thing can connect up or down stairs ?

Any advice or what is the best way of doing the wifi in a 4 bedroom house. The virgin wifi is rubbish and only goes about 2 rooms....

Thansk for any help.

If you have ethernet in remote rooms you do not want to use any kind of "mesh" system. Most these systems are just wifi repeaters with a different name on the box.

What you want are AP. You can technically run most "mesh" devices as AP but it is cheaper to just buy inexpensive routers and put them in AP mode. Everything is one network by default. You can use the same or different SSID and it will still be the same network.

I have no idea why your current disk thing have issue. They maybe trying to run in repeater mode when you don't need it.

It looks like you can use ethernet to connect the P7 pucks back to the router. On page 14 of the user's manual there is a section about "operating mode". If you have wired ethernet you should be able to use your P7 units as access points.
