So it was raining quite a bit last night and i was using my wifi...

This morning my internet connection stopped working and i noticed that the internet light wasnt
blinking on the modem

I called my isp and that guy told me that my modem is gone and i have to buy a new one.. and when i asked him the reason and he told me it went because of the rain last night and he told me that no one uses wifi during rain..

I find this quite absurd and i want to know your opinions :)

Thank You

Wilson,

Absolutely agee with USAFRet.

Hope you got his name, tech number, or a case number. I would call the company back (who is your ISP?) and complain.

You are paying good money for services and to be fed that sort of nonsense (putting it mildly) is absurb.

Probably should wait until the problem is fully resolved so that can be made part of the complaint. Document it all and "out them". If customers do not speak up when wronged then nothing will be done to improve services. But then some companies still just do not care....

I have a Netgear N600 WNDR3700v1 and we just had a storm which I know my power went out. and, now my wifi signal is very very low even standing 5 ft away from the router which I have up high (about 8 ft) in my office room. I have been looking for an answer as to what's wrong and so far very few clues as to why. this thread an another kind of confirm my suspicion of getting 'wacked' by the storm. is have been thru the manual, settings, resettings, forums, etc... but no luck.

True and lots of bs about rain screwing your equipment inside the house. However, power loss and lightning will knockout just about anything in the house if you are lucky.

I have lost a hdd in the past but that is it. I m in the Miami area which we get some good storms. this one, is a first.

my modem is from Comcast so tomorrow I am going to go swap it out for a wifi gateway (for the same rent cost) to check out my suspicion.

but the answer; rain storm no problem: thunder, lightning and losing power will definitely screw things up.
