is it possible to be able to be connected to my wifi even when i am not in range of my wifi network? i know its been done before some how, im assuming through a vpn connection but i am wondering if someone here could tell me if its possible and how.

Solution
Then you can connect to any open wifi with an internet connection.

If you attempt to connect to your home network through the cellular network you are still using your data plan to connect to it.
No to the first part, yes to the second part, but if you have internet access via wifi anywhere then what do you need the VPN for? If you are trying to access your home equipment from anywhere, there are many ways, but it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

If you just want to avoid paying for mobile data, then not really.

your response was a little confusing, can i connect to my personal wifi through vpn when i am not in range?

As Bill says, we have no idea what you want to do with this connection. Without knowing it is difficult to even start guessing at what the best tool or service would be.

Okay, let me lay this out:

Cellular -> Internet -> VPN -> Wifi -> ?
'Public' Wifi -> Internet -> VPN -> 'Personal' Wifi -> ?

Internet? / Computer? / Cameras? / Air Con?....etc.

Option one will cost you your data plan. Option two would let you connect to your network, then what?

If you are just trying to avoid using your data plan, then anywhere you can get internet access is good enough.

If you want to connect to your network to accomplish something, what is that something? Mobile devices are a little different then regular devices on the network, so you need apps or something running on the other end to connect to. If it is just RDP there are many, many applications out there.
