Hello,

I have problem with my wifi speeds on my desktop.

Specs desktop:
i5-4690K (4.2GHz oc)
8GB DDR3 Crucial Ballistix LP Ram (2133MHz oc)
GTX-960 SSC ACX2.0+
Gigabyte Z97X-SLI Rev1.2 (Bios F9)
Crucial MX200 (Firmware MU03)

Specs laptop:
i5-560M
8GB DDR3 1066MHz
Intel HD 1000
OCZ Vertex 1 (Firmware 1.7)

Wifi adapter
Edimax AC450 (EW7711MAC) using Mediatek's latest usb drivers

When I use the usb adapter in my laptop, I reach my top speeds (Down/Up) 40/4 and when I use it in my desktop, I mostly get 20/4 or 30/4. I don't know why I have this problem, but this also happens with other usb wifi adapters (RT73).

Both pc run windows 10 with the latest updates.

How can I fix this wifi issue on my desktop?
I reset my router (EPC3928AD) and everything is on default except 5GHz channel (48 and 44, because this adapter doesn't see higher than those) and the 5GHz is on N mode only (AC is not supported, only N or A or both)

Solution
Location, location, location! Your laptop is clearly better oriented to the router- closer, fewer walls, and so on. It isn't really something you can fix without moving the router or the computer.

Uhm, I had it in the same position and distance

Wow, I guess you're right after all, I used a usb extension cable and positioned facing towards the router (I'm 1 floor higher and 8 meters to the side) and it got the full speeds. I think those adapters really care about position since their antennas aren't the best
