WiFi speed problem

I have 105mbps internet connection at my home.
My router: Netgear N600 router

When I connect my PC using a Ethernet cable, I get about 95mbps speed (tested using http://www.speedtest.net/)

I bought a WiFi dongle from eBay (300Mbps Mini USB WiFi 802.11n/g/b)

QUESTION:
I get only 10-15mbps with this USB dongle.

Is there any settings I have to tweak or I need a better hardware?

Thanks in advance.

With your USB WiFi adapter, when the machine is right next to the router, what speed do you get?
Somewhat less than your 105Mbps, but greater than the "10-15Mbps".

If this is the case, it is simply a case of a crappy WiFi dongle, and too far away from the WiFi source.

It will have more throughput than the USB, and 5 times more power to run the transceiver (25W on PCIe vs. 5W on USB).

But again, if you're on a PC (which that card requires), you're better off with a wired connection. Really not much of a point for wireless when a short patch cord can give you full throughput and nowhere near as much fuss.

If there's a reason you MUST go wireless on a PC right next to the router, it would also look at whip antennas to give you more flexibility to position the antenna and maximize signal strength.
