The power supply for my OEM RAM provides 1.5v, whereas the new RAM that I bought only needs 1.35v. Would the new RAM get too warm when supplied with 1.5v?
Which kind of computer is that, which kind of RAM ?
For DDR3 there are two usual voltages, 1.5v for DDR3 and 1.35v for DDR3L which should also work fine at 1.5v. 1.35 is just a minimum it can work on while DDR3 (no L) is usually not capable of 1.35v.
Dell Precision T3500 workstation with OEM 2x2GB 1600MHz DDR3.
I know that the lower voltage (1.35v) will work with 1.5v supplied,
but I'm concerned that the excess voltage (0.15v) will result in more
heat dissipated at the RAM stick. Since temperature = accelerated aging,
I'd pay more for 1.5v DDR3 sticks if it would keep the temp down.
