Hello guys, im planning on upgrading my craphics card and before i make any purchases i would like to make sure that it will fit in my rig.

My current setup
case: corsair 350d
cpu cooler: hyper 212 evo
motherboard: msi z87m gaming
cpu: i7 4770
ram: corsair vengeance 16 gb
psu: corsair 850rm
current gpu: msi 770 tf

Height and length wise should fit according to case specs: http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/obsidian-series-350d-micro-atx-pc-case

Width though troubles me since with the 770 one its really tight in there and im thinking there will be a problem with either the hyper 212 evo or the ram clips: https://imgur.com/a/nZc70
770 dimensions: 260x126x38 mm
1080 dimensions :279 x 140 x 42 mm

Also if it fits how im i supposed to unclip the current 770 one since i cant get my finger close to the clip? Is it safe with a screwdriver or something else?

Thank you :)

Looking at the picture is there enough room for the backplate.it's not that thick. The ATX specs should prevent parts makers from making something that is going to get into each other way.
With the ram slots it might get close, but i think that it should fit. A backplate adds just a few mm.
The gpu should fit fine. You still seem to have enough room for the added backplate that the 1080 has.

For getting to the clip of the pcie slot you might want to remove the cpcu cooler or at least it's fan at that side, but looking at the picture might removing be the better choice and clean it as well since it seems full of dust. The pc seems to need some TLC looking at the dust build up.😀

Yea i will make sure to do a good cleanup when installing the 1080. Also i searched but i cant seem to find the backplates dimmensions so that i can be 100% sure it will fit with the ram/ram clips in the way. Any suggestions?

Alright im gonna try it, wish me luck haha.
Do i have to update the BIOS or just uninstall and install new drivers (first gpu upgrade and im kinda nervous about it).

If already using the latest drivers just install the gpu and see if it get's recognized. It probably will be and you should be fine then, can even try a restart if not recognized the first time. If not recognized either use DDU to uninstall the old drivers and then reinstall the latest after that or just go and install the latest drivers, but use the advanced option where you can choose,by checking a box,to do a clean install. The latest option is imo the easiest way.

If running into problems can you always update the bios, although that might be a good idea anyway, but you don't need to right now.

You will experience an fps boost but think about upgrading your CPU. Many people think that graphics cards are the sole thing in your computer. They're not. You will also need a good CPU, Motherboard and Memory for your computer. Fans are also very important. If you have intel i9-7920X and gtx 550 or something, your CPU will outstand your GPU massively. It would be good to do something with your CPU as well. For a better fps boost in games.
